Mediation & Family Dispute Resolution

Mediation provides a confidential, cost-effective alternative to court. A trained mediator supports both parties to negotiate workable solutions around property, finances and children.

  • Benefits of mediation include:

  • Reducing legal costs and delays.

  • Preserving ongoing family, business or community relationships.

  • Maintaining privacy outside of court.

  • Allowing flexible timing compared to court schedules.

At Resolution Partners, we provide accredited Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) services in Brisbane. Our FDR practitioners are registered with the Attorney-General’s Department and can issue Section 60I certificates where required under the Family Law Act 1975.

Child-Inclusive Mediation

When parents cannot agree on what’s best for their children, Child-Inclusive Mediation brings the child’s voice into the process in a safe, age-appropriate way. A qualified Child Consultant meets with your child or adolescent, then provides feedback (with their consent) to you and the mediator, ensuring parenting arrangements reflect your child’s needs.

The process:

  • Confidential intake sessions with each parent.

  • Child sessions with the consultant (play and discussion).

  • Feedback and joint mediation session with both parents.

This approach supports child-focused agreements that promote wellbeing and reduce conflict.

Parenting Coordination

Even with Court Orders or a parenting plan in place, day-to-day disputes can arise. Parenting Coordination is a child-centred dispute resolution process that helps separated parents reduce conflict, improve communication and focus on their children’s needs.

Parenting coordinators can assist with:

  • Managing disagreements and resolving disputes.

  • Facilitating constructive communication.

  • Supporting joint decision-making on education, health and activities.

  • Coordinating schedules and changeovers.

  • Providing education on co-parenting and child development.

Parenting Coordination can be engaged voluntarily or by court order in high-conflict matters.

Collab Prac

Collaborative Practice

Collaborative Practice is a non-adversarial approach to resolving family law disputes. Instead of going to court, each party works with a team of professionals – including lawyers, financial specialists and mental health experts – to reach respectful, lasting agreements.

Why choose Collaborative Practice?

  • Focus on interests, not positions.

  • Encourages open, respectful communication.

  • Preserves family relationships where children are involved.

  • Offers greater control and faster outcomes compared to litigation.

  • Reduces legal fees and emotional stress.

This process is suitable where both parties are committed to cooperation, compromise and child-focused solutions.
